Care for Seniors in Bucks County
As you know, one of the things we do is help take care of seniors right here in Bucks County. Some of our clients still live at home and are trying to live as long as they can in their primary home. While some of our clients live in an Assisted Living environment or even in full nursing care.
Today I want to share a beautiful story with you about how helping our seniors in Bucks goes beyond just running errands.
It’s called our “Magical Moments” policy.
The premise behind “Magical Moments” is to share amongst each other highlights in our week… each week the team submits their “magical moment” of the week, I choose the “best” of the week and then in our team communication, I share the stories with the rest of the team… This is how we stay in “touch” with the impact we are each having on our clients’ lives.
Many of our Magical Moments are blessed stories our seniors share with us, or how someone was able to use their spare bedroom for the first time in 20 years because we cleared it out and organized. Each week the stories come in and I am thrilled and filled with joy in my soul… as a reminder of WHY Task Complete℠ was born and the impact we can have loving up and taking care of our neighbors.
But this week’s Magical Moment was super special and the story I want to share with you ☺
We have been looking in on “Lilly” for over 2 years now. When we first started working with Lilly, she had just moved from an independent living apartment into an assisted living unit because she required more ADL care. She needed help with her medications, bathing and feeding herself which required more nursing care at the facility in which she resides. Her health continued to take a toll due to her advanced dementia… a story many of us know all too well. She quickly needed to move yet again to the full care facility within her community so that she could have 24 hr a day care and supervision by the nursing staff.
Once she moved, our goal was to keep her engaged. We still to this day visit her twice a week for companionship. Part of this means we bring her things like her favorite cookies and crackers or we buy new clothes when her old ones became soiled. We go to the “activities” with her at her nursing home which helps her participate and engage more. Typically, her favorite are events that have kids or music ☺
But last week’s “Magical Moment” was our team was able to escort Lilly on a facility planned trip to the BEACH!! What a beautiful gift to be able to go to the beach and see the ocean likely for the last time before she passes on into a new life several years from now. Although it was a HOT day last Friday, she was able to live and experience it and live life to the fullest that day… after years of living in her Nursing Facility, she broke out and went to the beach!!! It was OUR gift to experience that moment with her ☺
Some people think we just run errands, the reality is we change lives… Thank you for loving Lilly as much as we do ☺
