Beware of Hidden Clutter
Happy February! I can’t believe I’m saying that. One month gone already from 2018!! Crazy how time flies so fast these days! Are you feeling a little pressure in terms of having the time and space to get things done? You are not alone!
Let me ask… How did you do in January with cleaning up from the holidays and getting organized? (You can be honest… you are among friends here!) Maybe you tackled some big things?…Then maybe February is a good month to look at smaller organizing projects, but still ones that warrant our attention?
Did you know that clutter in our space and in our mind often prevents us from working at our maximum capacity? Even if you are an organized person who likes to get rid of stuff, we are often accumulating more stuff… and when that is the case, it can leave no room to allow anything new in!
It’s a simple Law of Attraction!
When I feel this way, I make a point of going around my home and office and discard old, used, unneeded items. Physically, my space and “energy” around me feels cleaner! I am able to create space to allow fresh new abundance in.
When de-cluttering, remember to toss or donate unused items. There are plenty of non-profit organizations that will gladly come to your home and pick up at no cost to you…AND you get the tax benefit! ☺
Be sure to purge all things that you don’t use on a regular basis.
All clothes that don’t fit, you never wear or are outdated. If they don’t make you feel like a million bucks, you shouldn’t be wearing them anyway! ☺
If you never cook turkey, you don’t need 2 turkey basters!
(I think you get the picture!)
But, you need to be aware of what I call the “hidden clutter”. You kinda know it’s there, but it sits quietly in the shadows and you work your energy around it, instead of making the space work for you. You already know all the usual, obvious places clutter hangs out; closets, drawers, entryways, garages… but do you know hidden clutter lives in your:
- Medicine Cabinet
- Linen Closet
But hold up! Before we go any further – I have a QUICK request of you
Task Complete is again in the running for the BEST Organizing /Personal assistant Company in the Bucks Happening Annual Happenings list!!
I would greatly appreciate your votes!! You can vote for us right here – CLICK HERE . (By the way – the stupid captcha thing is always difficult – you have to actually DO THE math problem – so if the captcha says 2+4 – YOU have to “enter” the answer which of course would be 6.) 😊
Now… Here are my best tips to “out” the hidden clutter and create fresh, space for new!
Donate multiple items that are going to expire in the next few months to a local food pantry. Wouldn’t you rather donate then waste it? (If food is expired, they will not be able to accept it and you should toss).
Clean out all old unused shampoos, beauty products and medications. These all have expiration dates. And no, you’ll likely never use all those little bottles of travel stuff you’ve been collecting from the 80’s! If you have old prescription medications, look to your community or local police for collection bins.
Toss old ratty torn towels and wash rags. Often, animal shelters will take these.
Extra sets of sheets from old beds. Comforters you no longer use. Shelters often will take these items too!
- Discard old papers you printed to “read someday” or at least keep them in a “to read” file. The truth is… if you haven’t read it already, it wasn’t that important to begin with!
- Clean out files in your filing cabinet. Purge, shred, trash what is no longer time appropriate or needed.
- Clean out computer files that are no longer relevant.
- Empty the “trash bin” in your email accounts!
- Donate unused books.
- Discard old notes and post it’s that are clogging up your walls and computer screen!
- Toss old “to-do” lists.
- Clean out old text messages!
- Uninstall unused apps
- Download your photos to the Cloud
