Our Food Pantry Mission
This summer, the Task Complete team picked up and delivered donations from individuals as well as several local businesses to make this year’s Stock Up for Summer the best ever!!!
Why is this so important for me? Let me share. 😊
I’m not sure if you know my story or not, but when my oldest son was a baby, he was born a few weeks early. At the time, my nursing income was the primary income for my family of 4.
My son (who is now a strapping 17 yo young man) came home from the hospital attached to monitors and an oxygen tank. This meant we couldn’t leave the house without 2 arms full of hospital equipment and a portable O2 tank. Because of this, I couldn’t go back to work. No one wanted to be responsible for a little guy who might stop breathing while he slept and set alarms off, not to mention my fears of leaving him alone. During this time, I had zero income. Those first 6 months after his birth were VERY difficult for us.
Without any other options, I found myself standing in line for my 2 bags of groceries every week at a local food pantry to help feed my family. Even in those moments when I picked up those necessary can goods and jars of peanut butter, I always gave 2 items back – my belief was that there must be people who needed it even more than me. And I always knew, I would be sure to make a difference in the future.
It started with always giving to the school, or local food drives. And on one visit to the Pendell pantry, I had my 2 littles with me, I asked what their biggest struggles were – the answer was very quickly given – Summer.
Food drives are low and food pantry shelves are critically low during the summer.
Each year growing bigger and bigger and being able to provide more food to those in need.
We make it easy for the community to donate by picking up and delivering for them. Our mission is to give families and busy executives more time in their day to spend time doing meaningful things, and this is one way we help them do this.
The reality is you never know when someone may need the kindness of strangers or their community to help put food on their table.
The Team and I would like to thank the following people and businesses who helped us exceed our food pantry goal this summer!! Our goal was 1000 lbs – we collected a grand total of 1097 lbs.
